It takes a video to see someone’s personality. I have been surprised to see someone I know only through writing, talk with an accent or look differently than what I imagined.
Same with cats. Morgan, although almost five, is very young at heart. She is the cat that runs over everyone (including humans)Β to be first out on the porch or up the stairs or at the food dish or at the newly cleaned litter box.
She bleats at critters (birds, squirrels and chippies) outside the windows. Here is my attempt to videotape her while she is “talking” to her friends. She used to bellow her feelings but now her chirps are softer so you have to crank it up to hear. (And watch that twitchy tail! Also notice that she does it from the comfort of a chair rather than a hard floor!)
Miss Morgan:
This is what she is watching. There are many more birds around but these were outside the window:
I love that she feels big and brave from the comforts of her cushioned chair.
Kudos on the video skills!

Kind of like me. I feel brave from a distance too!

Morgan speaks softly, but it sounds like that’s deceiving.

I grew up with outdoor cats, and never heard the chirps until we got Schooner – who sounds remarkably similar!

They are all similar yet different. When Hazel was young she would get so into it that she would run full force into the window. She destroyed a blind trying to get to the bird on the other side of the window. I worried about brain damage but how would I know?

I remember my cat making that unique sound and tail twitching! It was so nice to see a video of Ms. Gorgeous.

I’ll tell her that! Ms. Gorgeous indeed!

Your Morgan reminds me a lot of my J.J. in this video. (No insult intended!) Just make him black, increase the decibel level of squawks tenfold, and then have him turn his head around 360 degrees – they could be twins!!!

I’ve never tried to take a video of anyone or thing. I think that Morgan may be a star in the making. π

My cats do that with the birds! And I’m like, “Why are you warning them?! You are a terrible hunter!”

I always think of it more as Anthony Hopkins inviting them to dinner as in Silence of the Lambs.

I love the chattering. And look at her tail go! Funny thing is one of my cats actually does that to my other cat before she pounces on her. It’s not a play thing, unfortunately. They don’t get along.

I wish mine were that soft. Frisky has a howl that will break your ear drums, esp if she thinks her food dish is empty. What’s worse is she doesn’t even check first. Sometimes I have to fake putting food in it to shut her up. My two birdwatch but do not fuss about it, just stare.

The older they get, the let commotion they make with the birds. When Morgan was much younger she’s pace and holler on the inside of the sliding glass doors as chippies tormented her outside.

I know. The video makes her look like a couch (or chair) potato but she’s a ball of fire bouncing around the house. I just don’t know how to capture that.

Aww shucks! There is a huge fight over who the star is. My money is on Morgan. She’s the diva but Mollie is so pretty….then again Hazel wants to know if the star gets an hors d’oeuvres table. Can you imagine what they’d be like if someone tried to fit a glass slipper on them? Now you have them all riled up!

I didn’t have them “published” on youtube. Should work now. (I hope.) If you get time to check again, please let me know if it works. It worked for me when I tested it but they are my videos.

Problem solved! Not sure whether Morgan is lazy, or just mildly interested by the birds…. but they know that they are safe anyway! π

It’s more exciting on the screened porch because she will stalk around the 3 screened sides and the “offending” critter can hear her. The chipmunks and birds are immune as they know she can’t get them. When I had Jake, who could go out the cat door, it was a different story.
