Sassy cats — What’s the point?

Mollie inbackofbed2

So you buy your cat a nice bed — $20

You add a nice pink fleecy fabric to make it softer — $10

Then she sleeps in back of the bed on a hard braided rug.

Or on the hard slate in front of the (unlit) fireplace.

  3. When Tigger’s cold, he sleeps under the bed on the carpet. When he’s hot, he sleeps in the linen closet on the cool tile. The common element . . . no one can sneak up on him in either location.

  4. Our current batch of cats actually really like their beds. Helen rouses from hers only to waddle into the kitchen or off to the litter pan. It’s shocking to me that they use them. On the other hand, despite the fact that we have $8,652 worth of cat toys, the only things they ever want to bat around are things like my contact lens case (under the sofa), hairbands (dozens under the sofa), pens and pencils (under the fridge), anything but the damn toys. Sigh.

        • Mollie is the cat who likes rubber bands and she doesn’t eat them or chew them. She bats it around like a bug. The other two aren’t interested in them. I did have a cat who chewed electrical cords. That was a nightmare. You can’t get rid of the cords.

  5. They are trying to show you unconditional love. Try putting an item of clothing you have already worn on the bed. At least they didn’t pee on it, which is what my cats do with new things they don’t like.

  6. I had the same problem with toys! Mechanical or battery operated toys are t too noisy, one cat observes briefly and walks away. The other runs away as soon as it starts. Boxes, ribbons, strings, straws basically free things are what they like. Wish I had known that before I bought those toys!

  7. Snorts and rolls with piggy laughter. I understand completely! Mom bought me a toddler bed. I love it. However, mom/dad’s Select Number bed is much more my style. XOXO – Bacon
    P.S. I know you were wondering… I’m a 65 on the Select Number bed – ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. How long have you had cats? I must conclude that either they are terrible teachers or (my guess) you don’t learn too fast! C’mon Kate ……… they’re cats! They know all about squatters rights. They know how royalty lives. They put 2 and 2 together and convincingly come up with 22!
