Time flies – I was checking out the calendar for March. We are changing the clocks forward next weekend; spring starts on the 20th and Easter is the 27th. All good. Things seem earlier this year. Maybe it’s because the winter was milder. Thank you El Nino!
Speaking of spring – This week I had my first frog sighting at my pond. Yesterday was the first chipmunk. Woo hoo! It was only one day but it’s only a matter of time now.
Argh! – My local Starbucks drive-through has become annoying again. People need to brush up on their drive-through manners. DO NOT text in line and forget to move up. I need one of those big outdoor speakers so I can startle someone who is obsessed with something in their lap while the rest of us are dying for our coffee!
There’s an app for that – Speaking of Starbucks, there is an app where you can order on your phone. You walk in and pick up your order, bypassing the line. I tried it. Let’s just say it didn’t go well. Couldn’t find a decaf option and ended up with 4 caffeinated drinks in my queue so I didn’t check out. That would kill me for sure. Couldn’t find explicit instructions. These things are not intuitive (at least to me).
Potato chips for feet! – The beloved husband has a problem with his one big toe nail. The doctor had sliced and diced it a few times. Initially he recommended soaking in salt water. It’s been bothering him lately so I suggested soaking again. After a discussion on the benefits of salt, it was decided that the beloved husband would eat potato chips instead of soaking. If salt is systemic, that should work, right?
So how was your week?
Except me, I’m later. Catching this post one week late. Clocks spring forward this morning. Hopefully Spring has sprung. Kate, maybe you need a MEGAPHONE with the squawk on it. That’ll get their attention. I’m not gizmos—or apps.

That thing on your nose is a gizmo although not really a “working” one! Spring has somewhat sprung. Still above average temps but not the 80s my body longs for.

An artificial proboscis? Preposterous! I smell a south sea island and warmer temperatures calling. Proof positive, my snout can catch a whiff of a possible vacation coming down the road. 😀

Love the coconut smell of summer suntan lotion! Almost as good as a vacation.

Oh me too. That’s a smell that brings thoughts of lawn chairs, beaches, and lots of sunshine.

i love that cartoon! If only it were true that potato chips acted as a cure-all! I do love salty more than sweet! My birthday is the first day of spring and I’ve always kind of loved that. But this year I feel like we just took the Christmas lights down. Too soon, I say! And I have always wished it were possible to outfit the car with an external speaker system where I could voice my objections to rude drivers. It would be so useful, wouldn’t it?

As for the outside speakers on a car, I’d probably be jailed especially if it was pre-coffee.

Signs of spring are everywhere, even this far north. Love it!
I’m still giggling at the image of you in the Starbucks drive-thru with a big blow horn: “Please pay attention and pull forward!”

Oh, I wouldn’t that kind. It would be more like “Hey Dumbass, move it!” Remember I haven’t had my coffee yet.

By the time I get here to comment everyone has already taken the good comments! So I think that I’ll say ditto. And then wave hello to you, Kate.

That happens to me all the time. Thanks for venturing a comment anyway. *wave back*

I am all about the Potato Chip Solution. I smell an infomercial and lots of royalties. Oh Kate, so many ventures we could get have a go at…

Your critters are arriving having gotten notice you’ve put out the Spring Welcomed Here mat.
Anyway to soak potato chips until they are limp then just drape them over spot? Organic/veggie bandages HA HA
Hope Starbucks gets thing straightened out. Not good for coffee needy people to encounter problems…

Today the chipmunks are running around like crazy. I put out sunflower seeds. All those months of hibernation take their toll. Have to fatten them up.

I heard our frog that lives in the porch gutter yesterday afternoon, I couldn’t believe it. I am sure we will be hearing spring peepers soon. I do NOT like to spring forward. I am not ready for summer… wears me out. We have weeds, wild onions, the greens of iris and daffodils popping up… I do love seeing them!

I love summer! Winter is so tiring and brown. Love to see the green popping up.

I was wondering about that order ahead thing… But I go so early in the morning (when I do go) that there’s usually not a line. Not a line at Starbucks?!? That tells you how early I go!

I you get a caffeinated coffee it should work fine. Someone I used to work with convinced me to try it. She goes Fridays which are the worst although the last time I saw her there she had to wait for her food. If there’s no line it’s just as easy to do the drive-through or walk-in. In my area people drink more coffee Thursdays and Fridays. Don’t know what they do the rest of the week.

Love the potatoe chip idea. If only…
March is going to fly by…but that seems to happen quite a bit these days.

The problem is not that March flies by, it’s that the entire flies by in a nanosecond.

Not sure if I like the picture but my hair hasn’t been short in years. Maybe if I get someone to take a picture instead of doing it myself. You know shaky hand, bad angles.

I love to see the critters start to stir, the closer we get to spring. This week, I spotted two bunnies ripping through our back yard. Our temps will sore into the high 70’s this week, and I can’t wait! I hope you capture some photos of the frogs, Kate.

High 70s, so jealous! The birds are crazy. They are probably nesting and making eggs.

I think chipmunks are adorable but I don’t think there are any here… at least I’ve never seen one. Are you sure those rude drive thru peeps are obsessed with texting in their laps? If only potato chips worked like that. All that happens to this body is extreme thirst and bloating.

I’ve heard great things about vinegar and water as a soak for toenail issues. Haven’t tried it myself, though.
HATE HATE HATE Daylight Savings. Getting up at 4 AM isn’t even for the birds. They are still sleeping.

I wouldn’t like getting up at 4 a.m. either! Isn’t it still dark even with dl savings time? Will pass your vinegar comment onto my husband.

I thought of you yesterday, re: Starbucks. I took my wife to an art class in a town 40 minutes away I’m not really familiar with. As we were within a block of her class, she decided she suddenly wanted a latte. It was ten minutes before her class started, so I sighed and said I’d go for it and bring it to her in the class. The closest one was three miles away, but I hit every light on the way there AND back. As I walked it into her class to hand it to her, I noticed they had coffee up front in a big urn. But I didn’t dare mention that later.

Excited about your frog, more than the time change. So early. I wish it guaranteed an early spring. I have visions of snow pants Easter Sunday, but in a nice pastel of course.
And let’s not talk about Starbucks. I’m ready to burn a few down.
I waited this morning in the cold while they ignored their late opening. The least they could do is come to the door and say..sorry, 10 minutes. Instead they pretend you’re not out there freezing. UGH.
Have a great week.

Ugh is right. They should have opened the doors and let you inside even if you had to wait. Pastel snow pants. That’s a thought.

I really don’t trust that the apps for these places works. Well not the app but the process between me putting in the order and me picking up the order. I do not think that I will get to the restaurant and find a fresh order of food. My expectation is that I will get to the restaurant and this will cue them to check to see if they have an order for me AND then they will do the order. At which point – why do it again?
To be fair, I haven’t done it. I just project the worst case and don’t download whatever app they are advertising to me while I wait in line. I’m about as logical as your husband is about salt.

I was there once when they threw out an on-line order that had been sitting for a while. It may work if your order is simple. Not good for my paragraph description of my drink.

As for your husband’s salty logic . . . let us know how that works out for him.

The potato chip thought was “interesting”. Our grass in SW Iowa is starting to green and I saw a crocus in the warmest area of our one park downtown. The gardening madness that is my life will soon begin and I’m not finished with the winter quilting project in my sewing room! It’s all good!

It is great. We are predicted to hit 70 for the first time (very unseasonal). As I always say, it will be a cold 70 because the ground is still cold.
